For Children & Adolescents

"From the tiny impressions gleaned from one another, [each member of the family] created a sense of belonging and tried to make do with the way they found each other."

 -Toni Morrison, The Bluest Eye

Band. Together

In the wider world of unknowns and increasingly complex 21st-century realities, family can be a core protective factor. It can bring an adaptive sense of belonging, history, and tradition that blossoms and survives against all odds.

Family can also replicate patterns of trauma, maladaptive coping, and hurtful behaviors -- many of which are survival-based and passed on from generation to generation. As children and adolescents strive to develop separate selves -- friction and discomfort can occur.

As a result, at this time, I do not provide family therapy - but I do provide individual child or adolescent therapy, in which the family is supported through psychoeducation, referrals to their own individual and full-unit care.

If your child and/or children are in need of support -- please don't hesitate to reach out today. It is possible to retrain negative behavioral habits, to learn more healthful communication, and to make sure the needs of each child are better understood and met. Some of this “change work” requires the adults in each child’s life to make changes first - before the child’s behavior will improve.
