Youth & Families

For 10.5 years, I worked at Pacific Pride Foundation - initially as a therapist rebooting the PROUD Youth Group, later as founding LGBTQIA+ Programs Director - expanding intersectional programs for over 6 years. Much of this work centered intersectional LGBTQIA+ youth voices in programming and activism.

LGBTQIA+ Youth are often born into non-LGBTQIA+ families. In a heterosexist and cisgenderist world, this can place a developmental burden on the LGBTQIA+ child to grow up with greater loneliness and isolation. This can lead to higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide (all natural responses to isolation and loneliness). Supporting families in welcoming their LGBTQIA+ children competently, compassionately, and carefully has been a powerful part of my change-making work.

Supporting LGBTQIA+ Youth and their families has become one of the greatest joys of my life. If I can assist your organization, program, or family in widening your welcome of LGBTQIA+ youth please let me know!

Warmly,
